Overview

Being organised for the first time in November 2009, the droidcon conference deals with „Android“, the platform for mobile devices which is being developed by the Open Handset Alliance under the guidance of Google.

The droidcon conference primarily aims at

  • Developers (freelance as well as employed)
  • Companies developing software (applications, tools, frameworks, etc.)
  • Operators of mobile networks
  • Providers of network based value-added services
  • Hardware and components vendors (cell phones, netbooks, tablet PCs, car electronics, etc.)
  • private and professional users of mobile information and communication technology
  • advertising agencies seeking to position themselves by offering innovative mobile Android-based services

Those who belong to one of the mentioned groups are cordially invited to contribute a proposal for a conference presentation. A program committee consisting of independent IT experts (association members, freelancers, journalists) and representatives of hard and software vendors will review all submissions and select those to be presented at the conference. No responsibility is taken by the programm committee that submissions will be selected.

Instructions:


Developer I: developing for Android – tools, frameworks, and the platform

What: We are looking for presentations dealing with software development for the Android platform, occurring particularitites, the community, and technical prerequisites of the development process (programming environments, frameworks, tools, etc.). Moreover: presentations dealing with the evolution of the Android platform itself

Who: Speakers are Android software developers (freelance or employed), community representatives, and providers of development tools and frameworks.

Content criteria:

  • Specific to Android: Is the talk particularly relevant for Android development, not only of general interest for software developers?
  • Relevance: Is the talk of comprehensive interest for Android developers?
  • Expertise: Does the talk offer more profound information than generally available, for example in generic developer guides?
  • Length: Can the presentation be given in max. 20 minutes?

Developer II: apps on stage – innovative apps briefly introduced

What: We are looking for talks about innovative apps of all kind: games and other entertainment software as well as apps for communication, information, and transaction purposes.

How: The presentation depicts the function, field(s) of usage, and the business model of the application.

Who: Speakers are developers resp. representatives of development companies.

Content Criteria

  • Innovation: Is the presented application innovative in the sense that it offers funcitionalities previously unavailable under Android?
  • Use: Does the presentation depict the usefulness of the application?
  • Length: Can the presentation be given in max. 10 minutes?
  • Understandability: Is the talk understandable for attendees which don't have a great deal of technical expertise, for example investors?

 

B2B: Android in the IT value chain and the usage in business processes

What: We are looking for presentations of vendor as well as of user companies dealing with the role of Android in the market for IT, telecom, and related services. Also of interest: talks about innovative business models and the market environment.

How: Possible topics of presentations are the integration of Android apps and hardware into standard solutions (ERP, CRM, etc.) or into new solutions (e. g. car entertainment systems), or the actual use of Android apps in business processes at companies of all sizes and industries.

Who: Speakers are representatives of software and services vendors as well as of comanies using these products and services. Moreover: legal experts, business angels, and investors

Inhaltliche Kriterien:

  • Specific to Android: Is the talk specifically relevant in connection with Android and Android-based applications?
  • Length: Can the presentation be given in max. 20 minutes?
  • Relevance: Is the talk of comprehensive interest for vendors or users of IT products and services?
  • Understandability: Is the talk understandable for attendees with a general IT background, but without a great deal of Android expertise?

Media/agencies: Android for innovative, creative marketing

What: We are looking for talks about innovative/creative/novel Android-based solutions enabling advertising agencies to position themselves as being innovative for their customers and to create particular use in marketing strategies and campaigns.

How: The presentations deal with novel apps and/or their integration into marketing campaigns and discuss the use for the agency and the customer.

Who: Speakers are represenzatives of marketing/advertising agencies and agency customers.

Content criteria:

  • Specific to Android: Befasst sich der Vortrag mit Marketing-Themen, die im Zusammenhang mit Android-Apps realisert werden oder worden sind? Does the talk adress marketing topics in connection with Android apps?
  • Length: Can the presentation be given in max. 20 minutes?
  • Relevance: Is the presentation relevant for marketing/advertising agencies or their customers?
